Surprise your guests and create mementoes you’ll all enjoy for years to come with the services of live illustrator Leela, who – with the aid of quick posed photographs – will sketch the day away, creating charming portraits for them to take away.
A fresh twist on the party photo booth, these portraits made in real time will create a sense of anticipation amongst your gathering as they wait to see the finished result and serve as a wedding favour that they’ll hold onto for many years to come.
You’ve obviously considered live entertainment for your wedding, but why not a live illustrator? Leela Illustrates, a live portrait-drawing service offered by Guisborough-based artist and illustrator Leela Taylor would make a fun, original addition to your big day that most of your guests are unlikely to have ever seen before. Entertainment and a special favour all in one, your favourite folks will pose for a quick snap and then continue enjoying your celebration, while Leela paints throughout the day using these photos as reference. She’ll then display the finished masterpieces as she completes them throughout the festivities, which your nearest and dearest will love browsing in between meal courses and dances.
BEHIND THE CANVAS
The artist launched Leela Illustrates in April 2024, covering joyful celebrations in Teesside, County Durham, North Yorkshire and beyond. Her background in children’s illustration has shaped her fun sketching style, and she loves how their broad appeal has translated to weddings – and garnered delighted responses from people enjoying the finished results. Depending on your budget, she offers an array of packages, ranging from Silver and Gold to Platinum, as well as bespoke commissions. Extra guests and special details can be added, with extra sketches being completed back at the artist’s studio after the main event.
