Kate and Emma began with a classic love story, working in a school together, they both secretly had a crush on each other but remained just best friends as they couldn’t be together. Once Kate found out Emma had handed in her notice for the school, she couldn’t hold her feelings back any longer, and confessed her love to Emma and the rest is history.

Keeping in with the tradition of New Years Eve, Emma proposed to Kate on a romantic date night for a walk through Kensington Gardens and then a trip to the Natural History Museum. Since it was a cold and rainy night, they basically had the place to themselves which is when Emma popped the all important question. Of course Kate said yes, but within all the excitement and emotion flowing through the air, they didn’t realise the gates had closed early! They had been locked inside and had to climb back over the fence to escape, it was like something out of a movie!

BEYOND THE BEATEN TRACK

Kate booked the venue before Emma had ever laid eyes on it, now that is what you call trust! But Kate knew that she would love it and we can see why… The panoramic views of Holmfirth Vineyard are awe-inspiring as it sits high and proud above the valleys. The ceremony room boasts high ceilings with large windows to complement and allow in the breath-taking scenery for the most fantastic photos.

This also took Kate back up to her roots of Yorkshire, this also inspired the floristry and food selection. With singular white roses placed delicately at the tables for their guests to arrange in empty vases on the tables, this made for some unique and personal centrepieces. The food incorporated delicious dining with elements of quintessentially Yorkshire cuisine, it was a stand out for all of the guests as friends and family were coming from up and down the country but the menu was overall warm, comforting and most of all flavourful.

BEYOND THE LENS

Kate and Emma knew they wanted a natural documentary style photographer and knew Kirsty Mattsson Photography was the one! They knew getting married in December it was likely to be typical English weather, dark and dull, so they needed an experienced photographer that can take a perfect snap despite any conditions. And Kirsty was the one, using the dramatic landscape of Holmfirth to her full advantage despite any wind or rain. She made Emma and Kate look as good as they felt, despite them being soaked, she captured them with beauty and poise.

THE FASHION

Kate lived next door to the owner of Mignonette Bridal for a number of years and once she told her that she was getting married Mignonette bridal took it out of her hands and presented her with some gorgeous gowns. Kate settled on a classic and elegant look by Josephine Scott Bridal that featured intricate lace details and a statement back for those important ceremony shots.

Emma matched Kate’s vibe with a sleek and stylish white suit created by The Twisted Tailor and it fit her beautifully. Emma also took her suit to be embroidered by Shimmering Ivory with the words “Always and Forever” under her collar and their initials and wedding date inside the jacket. This made it all the more special and something intimate and a little secret for the couple.

THE OVERWHELMING FEELING OF LOVE IN THE ROOM DURING THE SPEECHES. SEEING SO MANY PEOPLE GET EMOTIONAL INCLUDING MY TWO CHILDREN. IT’S BEEN A VERY DIFFICULT COUPLE OF YEARS AND WE’VE HAD TO OVERCOME A LOT TO GET TO THIS POINT. THE COLLECTIVE LOVE AT THAT POINT WAS JUST INCREDIBLE.
