REAL WEDDING

READ THE ROMANCE

After first meeting as teens at Leeds Festival, Jade and Joe remained good friends for several years, building fond memories of house parties, road trips, concerts and naturally, more festivals. Seven years ago, they fell in love and began building a life together, including welcoming a son. And so, when it came to planning a proposal worthy of their slow-burn love, Joe understood the assignment. “We’re at Boomtown Festival 2022 in 32-degree heat, Julian Marley starts playing the song Family and Friends, and Joe just pops the question,” Jade gushes, “he couldn’t have chosen a more perfect moment”.

ALL THE FEELS

+ 70s-Inspired Solstice

+ Festival Extravaganza

+ Glastonbury but make it Glam

Inspired by the festival feel of their first meeting and engagement, the couple wanted similar vibes for their wedding day: a back-to-nature, euphoric celebration that makes the most of the British summertime. After looking at a couple of venues, a visit to Brinkburn – a historic priory estate with picturesque, wooded grounds and an exclusive-use policy for two- and three-day weekend nuptials – the pair knew they’d found the one. “Even in the pouring rain, it was magical,” she sighs.

GODDESS GET-UP

We’re obsessed with the tattoo-lace look of Jade’s All Who Wander dress, a style that suits the boho babe perfectly. Flat Accessorize sandals, a fire opal bracelet (Joe’s birthstone) and a simple chapel-length veil completed the ceremony look. In keeping with the summer solstice tradition, she invited all of her guests to bring a flower crown for the evening celebrations, and donned a bridal crown made from a mix of dried and fresh blowsy blooms by Nomad Flower Den.

The ceremony took place in the partially-restored manor house, with its curved wall of floor-to-ceiling arched windows pouring natural light onto their vows, and the beautifully original collaborative moon-and-flowers installation from Imaginarium Creative Studio and Nomad Flower Den.

NO CRUMBS

This bride and groom ensured that their guests didn’t go hungry by serving up slices of Scream For Pizza at the pizza-and-prosecco party at Brinkburn’s on-site accommodation the night before the wedding, For the reception meal, 19.01 Catering – included with the wedding packages – consulted with the lovers, enabling them to create their dream menu. Sweet tooths were also sated, with bespoke wedding cake-flavoured scoops from local ice cream parlour Minchella & Co.

Once wed, the party poured out into the grounds in a whirl of bubbles, incense smoke, DJ sets, drumming and ice cream cones in the golden summer sunshine. “Brinkburn gave us five-star luxury in nature. To be surrounded by beautiful countryside but also be able to keep our guests comfortable was everything that we wanted.”
