REAL WEDDING
READ THE ROMANCE
Planning a wedding is stressful enough for most engaged couples, but for Emirates-based lovers Jenn and Andrew, they had the extra hurdle of organising nuptials back home in their native Northumberland while navigating England and the UAE’s conflicting lockdowns. However, once Jenn was able to make it over to choose a venue (with Covid-stricken Andrew viewing via Facetime), the wedding ball was well and truly rolling.
LOCAL HEROES
As soon as Andrew proposed during a minibreak in Ras-Al-Khaimah, Jenn knew that she wanted their wedding day to be a hometown production: “We really decided to use smaller businesses and independent suppliers in the area, and it was lovely to hear the northern accent over Facetime during planning meetings – a little piece of home!”
Having heard lots of five-star word-of-mouth reviews from family and friends about big days attended at Woodhill, she was keen to check it out for herself and was delighted with what she found. “The two-day set-up was very appealing to us, as we wanted to start the catch-ups and celebrations the night before,” Jenn explains. “Also, the Olive House is just incredible. We were ready to book then and there before we’d seen the rest of Woodhill! Every inch of the venue is amazing; they’ve put so much effort into every detail.”
ALL ABOUT HUE
ELEGANT NEUTRALS | SUBTLE NUDES | BRONZE DETAILS
Having settled on a classic colour palette, the airy, Mediterranean vibe of the Olive House, with its pure-white walls, floral chandelier and dual-aspect vistas of woodland, meadows and hills was a perfect backdrop for the couple’s moving vows – so much so, that a line-up of white hurricane candles on the mantlepiece were added for atmosphere.
CATEGORY IS: COSTUME CHANGE!
And seriously, when you have two show-stopping outfits, why wouldn’t you take the opportunity to serve two looks? While Jenn’s main-character energy was established with the ultra-glam backless Giovanni Alessandro mermaid gown, the beautiful bride had an LWD from her hen stashed for dancing with her besties. And of course, for added photo ops…
AS PICKY EATERS OURSELVES, ANDREW AND I REALLY WANTED TO OFFER OUR GUESTS A LOT OF CHOICE, SO WE WERE REALLY GLAD THAT WOODHILL OFFERED THAT. WE WERE ABLE TO WORK WITH THEIR IN-HOUSE HEAD CHEF AND MAKE SPECIFIC REQUESTS. WE WERE SO HAPPY WITH OUR MENU AT THE TASTING AND ON THE DAY, AND I COULD EAT IT AGAIN! JENN, THE BRIDE
Post-ceremony, the tempo change was aided by proceedings moving into the laid-back, rustic setting of the tepees, where speeches were enjoyed over the wedding breakfast, before the couple got down to the business of dancing the night away to live music and enjoying a joyful reunion with their friends and family.
