THE STORY
Amy and Cathal met online in London, a true digital love story! Amy couldn't pronounce Cathal's name properly so he referred to himself in the 3rd person for the first 4 weeks for Amy, despite this she still can’t pronounce his Irish name correctly! Cathal proposed to Amy on her Grandma's birthday, down by the Groyne in South Shields where an iconic red light house stands proudly by the coast. As following tradition, this is where Amy's parents had their proposal 35 years ago, how love grows.
They brought both of their families together from Ireland and London, they all celebrated in the great North East, we may be biased. As Amy was a marketing manager with a knack for creating and running conferences, she knew that planning her wedding would be an absolute breeze and she loved every minute of it!
DREAM VENUE
They needed a renowned venue that would be able to cater for all their travelling guests (Australians, Americans, Canadians, Irish's, Londoners, all over the worlders!). Amy and Cathal are big foodies, and appreciate a good wine, or two! Personally knowing Danny the head chef from Masterchef (what?!), it was obvious to them that they wanted to utilise his cooking skills for their wedding breakfast.
Jesmond Dene House has it all, Amy and Cathal couldn’t fault it one bit. They loved how Jesmond Dene House was so central for all of their worldwide guests but still has a rustic countryside feel with all its luscious greenery surrounding it. They hired an olde-worlde London style double decker bus to bring all their guests from the church to The Dene which was an event in its own way as they all got to tour some of the North East on the drive there.
THE DENE GAVE US SO MANY BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS, AND THE GREAT HALL WAS STRIKING AND JUST STUNNING AMY, THE BRIDE
SERVING THE LOOKS
After visiting many dress shops Amy was drawn back to one of the original dresses that she tried on. It was the complete opposite to what she thought she wanted but the allure of her dress had a grasp on her and she knew that this was her dress. She asked the incredible team at Sisters of Grace Bridal (Guest List Superstars!) if the dress had a name. Funnily or spookily enough, the dresses name was 'MJ624' which is also Cathal's birthday. Was it meant to be?
RELIVE THE DREAM DAY
Their photographer Tyla captured very natural and authentic looks with her snaps, and their videographer Sarah from Bowness Films was an absolute dream to work with, producing a tear-wrenching film for Amy and Cathal to look back on forever. With such a talented team of snappers, Amy and Cathal were in safe hands when it came to their long-lasting photos.
I'M NOT CRYING, YOU ARE
When they first visited Jesmond Dene House for their food tasting, Cathal got quite emotional as the beef reminded him of his Granny's beef on a Sunday. This was such a special moment for Cathal and offered as a personal way to remember her and have her with them on the day.
They decided last minute (a week before the wedding) to get a childminder for the whole day. Their little boy was 18 months old on their wedding day, and although they had every faith that someone would be available to help when needed - having someone dedicated to Caleb was a relief to them so no one missed out on anything. She was a saviour.
