How It All Started
Michael and Helen's love first blossomed when they met in a bar, Helen was so shy and embarrassed that her Mam was acting cupid and the best wing-woman for Helen. Her Mam out-right asked Michael if he was single and then promptly brought him over to Helen to introduce them. Helen being too stunned to speak somehow managed to get his number and they arranged a first date the next day, with Mam's help of course. Helen said it was the most romantically fantastic date she had ever been on, a pure gentlemen, who says chivalry is dead?
Fast-forward many years and two handsome young boys, and Michael popped the question in style... At his 30th Birthday party, 80s fancy dress, Michael got on one knee as George Michael and asked Jessica Rabbit (Helen's costume of course!) to marry him. Helen loved it despite the quirks as it is something they will never forget and they were surrounded by their nearest and dearest to share the moment.
The Venue
The main event that is Newton Hall, it was love at first sight for Michael and Helen. After going away for the night for Helen's birthday to Newton Hall the staff thought the two were already engaged, so they got a full tour with all the bells and whistles, and despite not being engaged at that moment they knew this was the place for them when the time came. The settings, the grounds, the cabins, the beach, everything had the all important wow factor for them, with the Enchanted Chapel which made it feel magical to walk down the aisle.
SLEEK CHIC STYLE
Helen and Michael's style vision was a traditional black tie look with accents and hints of lace and pearls. To match they used white roses and hydrangeas, in memory of Helen's Nana, that was complimented by delicate green foliage effortlessly draped over the table for a super elegant look.
Versatility At It's Finest
Helen found Marrime Bridal on Instagram whilst looking for inspiration, she knew she had a certain look in mind - we're talking a low back, lace details, a half skirt and delicate bows on the shoulders. Helen had the opportunity to create two looks in one with Marrime Bridal, she wore the half skirt during the day for a more full and formal look and then did a quick change for the night by switching out the half skirt for the bows on her shoulders. These small changes in detail made it look like Helen had bought two separate dresses but really it was all in the styling. And of course Michael looked very dapper in a traditionally tailored suit with some dazzling accessories to match the sleek style, a good watch and a pair of cufflinks.
FOR THE LOVE OF HAIR
Helen wanted her hair to look sleek and effortless, she tried a couple of styles during her trial but the one on the day was 100% it. Her makeup artist created a soft and sultry look with colours that complimented Helen's tone and features, she truly had the dream team!
