Class in the Costswolds

As a popular off-duty hang out for Kate Moss and Britpop royalty, the Cotswolds is a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll – and no wedding destination embodies the region’s marriage of rustic grandeur and contemporary cool like Hyde House.

Comprising a chicly updated Victorian pile and coach house (ideal for putting up all of your dearest party animals after last orders) and an array of pretty barns, gardens and terraces, there are few spots better suited to a couple wanting a celebration with both style and substance.

For good-time lovers Jade and Scott, the to-die-for scenery and 150-guest capacity were big-day box-tickers: “we wanted a day full of love, fun and fond memories,” the bride explains. “Not to mention, good food, plenty of drinking and a good dance – and that’s definitely what we got.”

We’d expect nothing less from a couple that met on a wild night out at a rock club. Jade spotted her future husband in the crowd after storming the stage of a live band’s set.

After I was escorted off the stage for hitting the lead singer with a tambourine, I saw Scott and decided to tell him that he was ‘a total babe’. The rest is history.

Blossoming Romance

Although Jade and Scott visited a handful of dreamy wedding spots, Hyde House kept drawing them back with its light-filled barn, characterful décor and beautiful grounds. Other serious plus points were the super-luxe bridal party suite and the magical arbor, which set the scene for the confetti dash and after-dark sparkler soirée.

Taking the pair’s autumnal revelry seamlessly from heartfelt vows to a super-chic wedding breakfast and dancefloor extravaganza, Hyde House’s modernist backdrop was the perfect blank canvas for the couple’s elaborate floral design choices.

I WANTED SOMETHING A BIT DIFFERENT, AND IN THE END THE FLOWERS BECAME THE MAIN ATTRACTION IN TERMS OF STYLING.

By filling the venue with sensational centrepieces, luscious bouquets and dramatic gold-accented arches featuring exotic pink protea, blowsy Quicksand roses and rich foliage, Willow & Wild Floral Events enhanced the spaces’ epic proportions and brought a sense of heady opulence to proceedings.

All the Trimmings

While the couple’s styling choices made a feast for guests’ eyes, they also ensured that their loved ones were served a banquet of crowd-pleasing dishes. Onion tart with sweet beetroot started off the menu, with a classic beef sirloin roast dinner to follow and their favourite sticky toffee pudding for afters. Add to this a show-stopping three-tiered cake with gorgeous gold accents, whimsical florals and a marbled base, and you've got the ultimate marriage menu.

I TRIED ON SO MANY DRESSES BUT IN THE END I WENT BACK TO THE GIRST BOUTIQUE AND TRIED THIS ONE ON AGAIN – IT JUST FELT RIGHT.
