When it comes to real rustic romance, no where does it quite like the historic South Causey Inn. 

Having known one another through family for as long as they can remember, Joanna and Liam eventually began their love affair when they started working together – much to the delight of both of their families.

Home is Where the Heart is

After a fantastic few years, the pair took the huge step to reserve their first home together and it was during this lifechanging moment that Liam decided to make it even more memorable.

On their first night together in the new home and in front of his parents, he knelt down on one knee and popped the question to Joanna – which was thankfully met with a resounding yes!

Rustic Romance

Without further ado, the pair began planning for their special day and attended many wedding fayres in search of the perfect rustic venue. It wasn’t until they went to South Causey Inn’s offering that they knew they’d found the one.

Located in the beautiful Beamish Valley near Durham, this luxury country hotel was everything Joanna had wished for and more.

‘I had never heard of the venue but it caught my eye on social media. It was the Old Barn that did it for us – it was absolutely perfect – and the chapel inside is amazing.’ – Joanna

With glorious exposed oak beams, a romantic softly-lit terrace and fantastic draping foliage, The Old Barn and Chapel at South Causey Inn are the ultimate spaces for rustic romance to unfold in all its glory. Add to that a private garden with a lake and breath-taking views across the Beamish Valley, and you’ve got all the perfect nuptial set-up.

The Full Package

The couple’s trip to South Causey Inn’s wedding fair evidently paid huge dividends, as they not only found Joanna’s dream dress here too – a beautiful Morilee number – but came across their photographer and videographer.

During the day, the venue provided fabulous food and drink as well as the evening’s entertainment, which was lapped up by everyone in attendance.

Spooky Speeches

During Liam’s speech, he mentioned his late nana who had sadly passed the year before. Immediately after his heartfelt outpouring, one of the huge tree centrepieces toppled off the table, sending drinks flying and erupting the room into laughter – his nana was always one for dramatics!

Joanna’s Advice to Couples:

‘Take in every moment, spend every moment you can with your partner (I did and it was perfect). Oh, and get a videographer!’
