Melanie and Steven: A Wonderfully Romantic Fig House Celebration
Once Upon a Time:
With Steven almost losing hope of finding love on dating app Plenty of Fish, Melanie had no idea that she was about to meet the man she was going to marry.
After getting to know each other, the couple took the next step when Steven got down on one knee and asked Melanie for her hand in marriage under the starlit sky at Kielder Observatory... and so their love story began.
Venue Love:
Nestled amongst 200 acres of private North Yorkshire countryside lies a beautiful 18th century Georgian country estate, Middleton Lodge. Alongside The Main House, the stunning Walled Garden has since been transformed into the wonderfully romantic Fig House and Gardens.
This hidden gem fit with botanical interiors and brick walls instantly sealed the deal for the couple as their dream wedding came to life before them.
Surrounded by dramatic blooms and seasonal flowers, The Fig House promised Melanie and Steven the classic and timeless look they had visualised.
“A perfect blend between modern and rustic - the huge windows let in so much light and the garden setting was amazing.” - Melanie
Using Sprig and Thistle to add a beautiful floral arch and styling to the venue, the true beauty of The Fig House was able to speak for itself.
Neutral and elegant - an arrangement of wooden features, white-washed walls and ivory leaves served as a backdrop for the ceremony. There, the couple’s guests looked on from rustic chairs surrounded by brass accents and lanterns which bordered the aisle.
Say Yes to the Dress:
“The dress I ended up buying was on a mannequin when I walked in. I immediately fell in love and it was perfect for me - slightly different but not too out there.” - Melanie
The bride walked the aisle in a dreamy, Maggie Sottero gown, oozing a real feminine flare.
Crafted with distinctive embroidery and an intricately embellished waistband, Melanie’s look was complemented by her blushing bridesmaids dressed in a rich teal colour.
The Bride’s Advice:
“There will most likely be hiccups along the way but don’t let that spoil your fun. Make sure to enjoy the moment, have a glass of wine and try to relax!”
