JUST AROUND THE CORNER

Having grown up in the same village, all it took was mutual friends, a little game of hard-to-get and an undeniable spark to bring this bride and groom together. And so, when Nicky dragged Danielle on an extended version of their favourite Deer Hill walk in order to pop the question (“After spending the whole day nagging him, I was shocked that I forgot to say ‘yes’”) with a spectacular view, it was another fitting moment in their playful relationship.

“ONE OF THE FUNNIEST MOMENTS WAS THE BEST MAN’S SPEECH – HE HAD ME THINKING THAT NICKY HAD BOOKED ANOTHER SECRET HONEYMOON, BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY A JOKE THAT HAD GONE WAY OVER MY HEAD.”

DANIELLE, THE BRIDE

Danielle is a woman who knows what she wants (“I actually found the planning process really easy”), so when they visited Harrogate’s Rudding Park, it was clear that they could only marry in one place. “I’ve always dreamed of a church wedding, but Nicky wasn’t fussed, so I wasn’t going to push it,” she explains. “However, when we stepped inside the chapel, we both fell in love with it.” When they secured a May bank holiday date for their nuptials, they couldn’t believe their luck. The Gothic Revival setting added breath-taking grandeur to their intimate blessing ceremony, while Father Ian’s “funny, loving, fabulous” service was a hit with all in attendance.

FOODIE LOVERS

The North Yorkshire hotel is also renowned for its fine dining, and these foodie lovers were keen to spoil their guests with plenty of mouth-watering wedding breakfast options, which they devised during a tasting session with the catering team. There were three choices for each of the three courses, which covered everything from vegetable tart, smoked salmon, slow-braised beef and tarragon chicken to sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownie and lemon meringue.

From masterminding the ultra-elegant botanical reception décor to helping Danielle with her train before walking down the aisle, Ambience’s Lydia went above and beyond the stylist’s call of duty. Not all heroes wear capes…

LET LOOSE

With magic tricks admired, speeches toasted, shots downed and plates cleared, it was time to really get the party started. After a first dance to Riptideby Vance Joy, The Footmen and Trio Vivo got everyone else on their feet for a night of throwing shapes and magical memories. “I just wish I could have bottled the whole day up, it was truly amazing,” smiles Danielle.

Danielle: Madison James dress and a floor-length veil, both from Dotty Bridal. She accessorised with New Look shoes, a Tiffany necklace (gifted on the day by Nicky), her mother’s diamond earrings as her ‘something borrowed’ at the ceremony, before switching to Swarovski earrings to match her ‘something old’ – a Swarovski bracelet from her grandparents.

Nicky: a three-piece suit and leather brogues from Antich Fine English Tailors.
