Why did you decide to make your own range of makeup brushes? What was the market missing?
During lockdown I had plenty of time to re-think my brand. I had always wanted to develop my own line of products to share my knowledge and expertise, and I felt the market was missing quality makeup brushes, so I have thoughtfully created a collection where the design of the handle is equally as important as the shape of the brush hair – and usability is top priority.
The brushes have carefully-weighted handles, soft and precise synthetic hair and a luxurious feel that doesn’t cost the earth.
FOR ME, BRUSHES ARE A FORM OF MINDFULNESS. AS A MAKEUP ARTIST THEY ARE THE TOOLS TO UNLOCKING MY CREATIVITY.

ALL THE FEELS:
Jo's brushes are handmade in Germany using premium synthetic hair, FSC birch wood from Europe and the nickel is plated brass to create the ferrule part of the brush – creating a well-rounded product that feels tactile and high-end to hold.
Why is it important to invest in good makeup brushes?
Quality doesn’t always mean the most expensive item in the beauty range, it could be that products work for one bride’s skin but mightn't on another's. With the Jo Leversuch brushes I wanted quality rather than quantity. The synthetic hair really is excellent as it captures the makeup and skincare at every stroke of the brush.

CLAIM HEREWhat was the most important thing to you during the design process?
I actually carefully considered how the brushes were made. I wanted a quality product that is made by hand, and have spent months designing and trialling how the brushes feel, the shape of the brush, the design and quality of the brush to even how the brushes are washed and cleaned too. They take between 8-10 weeks to be manufactured by hand in a workshop in Germany, and I pride myself on the finish and quality of each brush.
Finally, how do you hope your brushes make their user feel?
Happy, confident, and liberated from using my brush range. With my motto in their mind as a form of mindfulness, “BE YOUR OWN NO 1!"
