Can you tell us a bit about what you offer brides, pre- and post-wedding?

Pre-wedding hair and make-up planning is absolutely vital. At the salon, we offer facials, including dermaplaning, which are guaranteed to have a bride’s skin looking its very best ahead of the day. We also share our tried-and-tested tips and tricks with brides so that they can recreate the look at home. In terms of hair, we can see our brides-to-be for cuts, colours and extensions, as well as for general advice on how we can achieve their dream wedding hair for the main event.

We’ve heard you’ve launched into hair and beauty products – can you share any details about the ranges you’ve developed?

So I now have my own haircare range! It’s for all hair types, including extensions. It’s argan oil-based, has all-natural ingredients, and the range is completely vegan. I’ve also launched my own line of strip lashes. They’re specifically designed for brides: not too heavy, and great for shaping eyes and finishing off any big-day look. And, as a bonus, they’re completely reusable too!

What make-up products would you never leave the house without?

This changes from season to season, but never without our own medical-grade SPF and primer, and a great setting spray.

Any new services that readers should know about?

Well, it’s not a brand-new service but it is a brand-new advanced technique for brows! My new semi-permanent brows are much softer and less abrasive than the old style; the technique’s great for shaping the brows and allows me to go over old existing brow work. It’s a really quick process and relatively pain free.

REDUCE THE NEED FOR EXCESSIVE HEAT

When summer finally comes around, making plans to spend as much time enjoying the warmer weather is common for many. Whether going to outdoor events or sitting in gardens or parks, you will likely get dressed up to attend. You might choose to style your hair with straighteners or curlers. This excessive heat can be damaging to your hair. When keeping your hair in great condition, reduce how often you use these styling tools.

Of course, if you want to use styling tools, like curlers or straighteners, to help you achieve your hairstyle, ensure that you use the right heat protection products first. This will help create a protective barrier when applying excessive heat to your hair. The result is your hair looking as you imagined, but with limited damage – ideal for summer!

TRY TO WASH LESS OFTEN

Along with reducing how much heat you apply to your hair, try washing your hair less often too. Over-washing your hair can strip away the natural oils within your scalps. This stimulates oil production, making us feel our hair needs to be washed more regularly – creating this repetitive over-washing cycle.

Instead, keep washing your hair to a minimum, possibly once or twice a week. In between washes, use products like dry shampoo to help keep your hair feeling fresher for longer. During the summer, you might go away and spend time in the pool or ocean. If your hair gets wet, try rinsing it in the shower, but not washing it. See if that helps to make a difference. If it does, it helps you keep how often you wash your hair down and help you keep your hair in great condition.

TREATMENTS TO HELP WITH HAIR LOSS

Experiencing hair loss can be upsetting to many, understandably so. For many of us, our hair is part of our identity. We use our hair to help us express ourselves, and it can play an influential role in our style. There are so many memorable jobs over my career as a make-up artist: from meeting celebrities, musicians and working backstage in London, Paris and Milan, to seeing my work on amazing campaigns.
One of my proudest moments, of course, has to be being appointed as the make-up artist to create the front cover images for the one and only: Belle Bridal Magazine!

What advice would you have for any brides looking for their wedding day look?
Really make the most of your trial appointment with your MUA. If there are a couple of different looks you like but you can’t quite decide, use the trial to see them both applied, as this can help make your decision easier.

How long do you normally spend on a wedding day look?
I aim to apply a bride’s make-up in one hour. I like to start by really taking time to thoroughly prep the skin so that I have a lovely base to work on, as this also helps create an even makeup texture. I’m always sure to leave a good amount of time to check the final look in different lighting and allow the bride to request any finishing touches once she is in her dress and her hair has been styled.

Lip gloss or lipstick to keep your lips fresh, and pressed powder to keep any shine away in the photos.
