Gazing at the stars can have a positive impact on mental health, from calming the mind and boosting feelings of closeness with nature to fostering kindness. According to a study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, feeling a sense of awe from stargazing diminishes the emphasis on the individual self and can promote altruistic behaviour*.

STARBATHING

Guests booking a Roof Top Starlight Spa Experience will receive a glass of Prosecco and access to the Indoor Swimming Pool, Juniper Log Sauna, Bucket Shower and Roof Top Spa and Garden – a social space where guests can relax and bathe under the stars in the warming waters of the outdoor Spa Bath or Hydrotherapy Pool.
On a clear night, the Roof Top Spa telescope will offer wonderful wide-field views of comets, star fields, star clusters, nebulae, bright galaxies, planets and the Moon and guests can download a Sky Map App for a fully-featured planetarium on their phone.
Guests looking to enhance their experience can book the Starlight Spa Evening which also includes a 50-minute bespoke spa treatment following which guests can explore the spa Escape Zone and immerse themselves in the Visual Zone with its mesmerising stargazing time-lapse footage or relax in the Sleep Zone with its starlight ceiling

OVERNIGHT STARGAZING EXPERIENCE

Guests will be able to discover the sky at night with this exclusive Stargazing Experience which includes an overnight stay, Yorkshire breakfast, access to the Roof Top Spa, supper or dinner at Clocktower followed by an informative and engaging 30-minute Introduction to Stargazing.
Guests can ‘starbathe’ in the warming waters of the Spa Bath or Hydrotherapy Pool on the Roof Top Spa and Garden. Following supper or dinner at Clocktower, astronomer Richard Darn, who helped establish Europe’s largest Dark Sky Park, will help newcomers to stargazing find their way around the cosmos.
Taking place in Rudding Park cinema with its starlight ceiling and complimentary popcorn, guests will first learn how to guide themselves around some of the more easily recognisable features of the night sky; constellations, features of the moon, the planets and other things such as aurorae and star clusters before venturing outside to observe the night sky and try their hand at stargazing.
Guests can enhance their stay and add a spa treatment following which they can explore the spa Escape Zone and immerse themselves in the Visual Zone with its mesmerising stargazing time-lapse footage or relax in the Sleep Zone with its starlight ceiling.
