I realised that I was just a little bit in love with the designs of British bridal designer Lyn Ashworth when I included one of her White Bloom ensembles for this issue way back in our summer photoshoot alongside Guest List boutique Ellison Gray in Durham at Charlton Hall.

It was the White Blossom gown and cuff, a detachable pillow soft Mikado ballgown with botanical appliqué corset with the matching appliqué cuff. I noticed the impeccable craftsmanship of the corset and on-trend pockets.

I immediately fell in love with their ethos of slow bridal fashion and that all of their gowns offer custom and interchangeable options for a completely bespoke look.

The Concept

“Inspired by my love for the Victorian era, I wanted to bring in a vintage element composed of timeless bridal gowns and groomsmen suits and combine it with “weddings of today” – modern, floaty set ups with touches of the past.” – Emma

Emma rounded up a great group of suppliers to carry out her vision, each putting their own spin on things to keep the images unique and draw the whole concept together.

The Setting

Hodstock Priory provided the perfect blank canvas for Emma’s vision to unfurl. Lakeside love, a grand ceremony space and all the little luxury details you could wish for.

Luxe Details

Belle loves the intricacy of those bridal hair combs from Cassie M Bridal Accessories.

Add them to romantic sweeping blonde curls, and you have the ultimate wedding day weave.For the attire, suit style was courtesy of Haworth Menswear who came through with a stunning brown-hued three-piece, while gown goals were in heavy supply from Elizabeth Kate Bridal who provided an elegant, ethereal showstopper.

The beautifully bright Garden Room was dressed to impress, with elegant mauve chair ties, fashion-forward florals and a beautiful neon backdrop tying into the classic contemporary brief perfectly. This is one place to walk the aisle in style, brides.

Wildly Whimsical

With large windows looking out onto the picture-perfect gardens which include a pond, terrace, firepit and festoon lit trees galore, it only made sense for the shoot to spill outside into Horton’s heavenly grounds.

The Bridal Fashion

We chose a selection of big blousy and incredibly beautiful 2021 bridal gowns from Newcastle-based bridal boutique Si Bridal and crowns from brand new London-based accessories designer Caped and Crowned. The overall look gave inspiration to the shoot name: A Modern Fairytale. Constance, our model, completed her own bridal makeup and hair due to Covid19 regulations.

Venue Styling and Luxe Details

Wild and Wonderful styled the aisle for the ceremony in the chapel and also the round tables afterwards for the reception look. The end result? A dreamy palette of pale pinks, white and pink orchids and natural hues created a statement yet elegantly rustic look, with fronds of pampas grass relaxing the overall vibe.

Tables were elegantly set with gold candles and elevated centerpieces carrying on the same colour palette as the brief.We created angel wings from the florals and grasses for a completely unique and instagrammable aisle style and then rearranged to cascade around their focal point fireplace – a total of three stunning and inspirational looks.

White Orchid Print and Design completed the overall styling with elegant pale pink and nude stationery and seating plans, embossed with gold leaf.

The Fashion

Juxtapose this with standout bridal fashion and we’re talking a fierce rendition of all things we love about all singing, all dancing creativity. Gowns from Victoria Robson Bridal lit up the lens, with a beautifully seductive cap sleeves number from Pronovias gracing the grass and lovely lakeside in full flow. When would you ever see haute couture bridal fashion within a few steps of a herd of sheep? Doxford Barns, that’s where.

The Styling

Into the courtyard and the styling is something to behold. The Whole Sch-bang did what they do best – with pretty pastel shaded blooms hugging and wrapping around an overhead tables cape with style, while wicker baskets and ornate table settings completed this summer al fresco setup with aplomb. The cake? A glorious three-tiered centrepiece from north east baking extraordinaire Gabriella Grace Cakes bringing all the sweet, sweet style.

Luxe Details

We adore the little details in this shoot. Dreamy earrings, a statement pink lip and a bridal blouse we'd like on our own backs, immediately.

Colour, creativity, and vibrant styling. It’s just what this week in lockdown is calling for…

We spoke to Kristie of Daze Photography and Videography, the creative brain behind the concept and idea, to find out how it all came together!

Insta-Inspiration

The idea for the shoot came on a grey February day, the week before the government announcement regarding the road map for weddings.

I was scrolling on instagram spotting so many amazing suppliers and felt really inspired to create a colourful, bohemian styled wedding shoot to brighten up what had been a bit of a miserable start to the year.

I knew I wanted to include the talented Indie Rose Macrame after spotting her creations and telling her what a beautiful backdrop her pieces would make for a wedding.

I had also seen another colourful styled shoot which had involved Viva La Booth and Hyde Park Flower Club By Dotties and thought their props and Dottie’s flowers would be perfect for the theme.

Country Colour

With a rough plan in mind I contacted Priory Cottages near Wetherby to ask if their wedding barn and countryside setting could be used as the location for the shoot.

Meeting with Amy who works at The Priory, I realised she was also a venue stylist and had lots of things we could use for the shoot.
I wanted to have Nabila Burija Weddings onboard as assistant photographer as we work so well together.

The model Autumn Rose, who is also a talented MUA, had the look we wanted, and luckily her boyfriend Tom was happy to help out as the ‘groom’ for the day.

Suited and Booted

Limelight Occasions had a beautiful bohemian style dress and also a grey tweed suit complete with dickie bow that worked perfectly with the theme. Hayley the owner also suggested some stunning hair pieces to go with the dress.

The cake was a no brainer, I’d been admiring Sugar Crush Bakes’ masterpieces for a few years. Georgie’s cakes are so creative, vibrant and interesting, I was thrilled when she was happy to be involved!

The finished cake not only looked sensational but tasted amazing too.

Gray Starling Designs’ handmade paper and gold leaf edge along with the floral designs she creates were a must-have.

She kindly suggested the design for seating plan that worked great with the macrame curtain and designed the beautiful invitations, menus and place settings.

Delicate Details

My idea was to have the macrame keyring which doubled as a place setting and favour.

We also used a beautiful macrame moon and star on the back of the bride and groom’s chairs, and a wrap around the bouquet.

I gasped when I first saw the bouquet, it looked incredible! Dottie really blew me away with her display on the triangle. She’s so creative and really went beyond my expectations.

I was also impressed to hear that she doesn’t use floral foam as it’s bad for the environment and uses mainly local flower growers.

Finishing touches were the rug which I bought from Wayfair, colourful confetti cannon and smoke bombs from Ginger Ray just to add extra colour!

Team Work makes the Dream Work

The day itself was brilliant, everything came together perfectly and we made a great team.

Although the weather was a bit dull and grey I think that actually made the colourful, vibrant flowers and beautiful macrame really pop.

The added bonus at the end of the shoot was sharing the beautiful flowers and delicious cake between the suppliers and the feedback was that a good day was had by all!"

Put together by our renowned stylists on the Supplier Guest List, Very Eventful, this styled shoot is an amazing flourish of creativity and decor brilliance.

Style isn't always about the way something looks, its about the way it makes you feel, in this case a feeling of enchantment.

Curiosity is key

Bringing displays to life by using real moss and trailing ivy. Injecting bursts of colour using planted tea cups and candelabras in a curious style. Elegant stems in medicine bottles.

Stacked vintage books steeped in history and handmade, meandering trees with cascading foliage, flowers and hidden keys.

Encased wild flowers, captured in glass domes were used to bring their vision to life, creating a wedding day full of magic.
