Story of the Shoot...
We spoke to Sam from Fantails Designer Florist, who was responsible for the beautiful blooms in the shoot, about how it all came together.
The Concept
"We wanted to capture the end of Winter and beginning of the Spring as there is still so much beauty nature has to offer and these two ‘in-between’ months of January and February are sometimes overlooked by couples.
We all worked closely with Ella, from Hooton Pagnell Hall, to create a fresh and crisp styled shoot, with classic details that complimented the venue, from which we hope Brides and Grooms can take inspiration."
Heavenly Hooton
"Hooton Pagnell Hall is filled with wonderfully friendly people and beautiful grounds in which to celebrate a marriage.
It has its own orchard and a truly natural but sophisticated feel throughout the buildings.
There is so much history too – it has been in the Warde-Norbury family for over 320 years and gracefully passed through the generations. During the First World War the house was offered to the British Government to be used as a hospital."
Sustainability is Key
"Being eco-friendly was the top of Fantail’s minds for this natural shoot as with the approach for all weddings - the replacement of floral foam is imperative for the environment.
The incorporation of moss to be used not only as a filler, but as a major feature is something that we are known for, and the results are beautiful.
We love creating dainty posies packed with seasonal details, like the one we designed here."
Palette of Dreams
"We used a palette of traditional spring complementary colours of yellow and hints of blue with stone toned charger plates by Eat Me Drink Me.
Quite fittingly coming together for this year’s Pantone colours of ‘Illuminating’ and ‘Grey’.
Flowers included Hyacinth, Craspedia, Lily of the Valley, Ranunculus, Muscari, Anemone, Nigella, Tete-a-Tete and Tulip.
Using the same flowers we created a woodland inspired table centre for a circular table setting surrounded by planted bulbs in glass goblets.
The next was a rectangular tablescape in the magnificent grounds of the venue, with candelabras and a moss runner spilling over the edge."
Sunlit Snaps
"Mark Crayden photographed the shoot taking advantage of the warm sunlight that was given to us on the day of the shoot. I still can’t believe how kind the weather was for us.
Charlotte Wilcox created iced shortbread favours and the most beautifully intricate white iced cake with handmade sugar flowers.
The White Yard supplied us with two fitted dresses designed by Modeca for our real life bride to wear while our groom looking dapper in a deep blue suit supplied by Tweed & Groom.

We were also really lucky to have two cars supplied by Candeo Weddings – one of which we spilled an enchantment of Spring out of!"
Why We’re a Fan of Fantails
Their approach to floristry has always been a natural one, but now they’re able to supply brides and grooms a mix of British flowers from their own cut garden in Sheffield, which is not only exciting, but a real bonus for couples knowing they’re supporting a local Yorkshire business and being kind to the environment at the same time.
