Autumn weddings are known for their warm and inviting colour palettes that embrace the rich and vibrant hues of the season. Here are some of the best colour schemes for an autumn wedding:

1. Cranberry and Forest Green

Cranberry red and forest green are classic fall colours that encapsulate the vibe of changing leaves and the holiday season. This combination is rich and visually striking. This is the perfect colour combination for a Christmas wedding as you can add cranberries and holy to your  centrepieces.

2. Rustic Orange and Burgundy

Burnt orange and burgundy are quintessential autumn colours. They create a warm and inviting atmosphere, reminiscent of falling leaves and harvest time. These colours would compliment wood features and rustic style. Embrace the cozy vibes of fall with a pumpkin spice-inspired colour scheme, with distinct decor such as pumpkins and cinnamon sticks for a true autumn feel.

3. Copper and Hazel

Copper and hazel tones provide a rich and earthy colour scheme that is perfect for a rustic or bohemian autumn wedding. These colours work well with natural elements like dried florals and crisp greenery.

4. Sage Green and Dusty Rose

Sage green paired with dusty rose creates a soft and romantic palette. These colours evoke the subtle, earthy tones of fall foliage. A muted pink adds a vintage touch while the soft green brings back the nature aspect.

5. Deep Red and Gold

Deep reds and rich golds create a luxurious and romantic atmosphere. These colours are flexible as they work well for both traditional and modern autumn weddings. Deep gold or amber tones can evoke the feeling of autumn sunlight with an added touch of luxury.

6. Jewel Tones

Rich, jewel-toned colours can add a touch of luxury to your autumn wedding. Consider deep purple to add depth and sophistication, emerald green, sapphire blue, and ruby red for a regal and elegant feel and to add a pop of colour. These colours pair well with metallic accents like gold or copper.

When selecting your colour scheme, consider the overall style and ambiance you want for your wedding. Your colour scheme can be matched and complimented in every element of your wedding, not just your decor, think dresses, suits, invitations, paint the town red! Test different combinations and swatches to see how they look together in various lighting conditions, and choose the one that resonates most with your vision for your autumn wedding.

As always, the Belle Bridal Guest List is the ultimate source of planning inspiration. Search our florists, stylists and designers to uncover amazing ideas for colour-themes and aesthetic building.

The wedding cake holds a prominent role on a couple's momentous day - from the captivating cake-cutting photos to the heartfelt compliments and the joy of sharing the exquisite creation with cherished guests.

As a skilled cake maker, I am well aware of the countless hours dedicated to crafting a wedding cake. I invest ample time conversing with my couples, meticulously understanding their desires for the cake and dessert table, and incorporating personal touches into the design.

However, it can be disheartening to arrive at the venue and find an ageing square table adorned with a plain white cloth, a lacklustre cake stand, and tucked away inconspicuously in a corner near a fire extinguisher.

Today, I am delighted to share some ideas on how to elevate your cake display, transforming it into an integral part of your unique wedding decor. With the addition of a few props and a captivating stand, you can truly take your cake table to new heights – from lavish plinths to mesmerising backdrops and resplendent floral displays, the options are limitless.

Exquisite Table Dressing

While we understand that budget considerations play a significant role in wedding planning, rest assured that creating a stunning cake table does not mean you have to break the bank. Allow me to present an example: one bride opted for delightful sugar cookies and delectable treats as table accents. Paired with a magnificent crystal cake stand and an elegant sash in the wedding colours cascading along the table's edge, the result was a breathtaking table of refined luxury.

Images below: Isabelle Biggs Photography

Captivating Cake Stands and Hoops

One way to infuse drama and sophistication into your cake table is by using an exquisite cake stand or hoop. Most venue dressers offer these for rental at a nominal cost. Enhance their allure by adorning them with delicate blossoms, transforming them into ethereal masterpieces. An arrangement of candles and artfully arranged jars filled with fresh flowers will only add to the beauty.

Hayley Gell Photography

MAKE IT BOLDER

For an awe-inspiring setup, consider incorporating a cake plinth swathed in an elegant black cloth. Add two sleek black stands—one to display the bride's bouquet and another adorned with charger candles and black candles for a touch of mystique.

Elevating Plinths

I MUST CONFESS, ACRYLIC ACCENTS HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART AS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PROPS. THE RANGE OF OPTIONS, FROM MAGNIFICENT PLINTHS TO RESPLENDENT FLORAL CROWNS, IS SIMPLY AWE-INSPIRING

For those seeking the epitome of luxury, plinths offer an extraordinary touch to elevate your cake table (literally). They can be transformed into bespoke masterpieces, personalised with a meaningful quote and the cherished date of your wedding.

They also serve as striking solitary displays, showcasing your cake in all its splendour. Alternatively, these magnificent structures can be artfully grouped to exhibit an exquisite array of bouquets, cherished photographs, and flickering candles, creating a visual setup of dreams.

Shaun Walker Photography

Exquisite Floral Crowns

Floral crowns are another prop option for your wedding cake. They offer cake makers the opportunity to work with exquisite blooms that may otherwise be surplus to requirements, brining a harmonious botanical elegance to the setup.

The Artistry of Backdrops and Floral Splendour

In the realm of opulent weddings, backdrops are key. These enchanting creations available in a range of shapes and sizes can capture attention quickly, whether you opt for a simple yet captivating board or the ethereal beauty of a pampas wall. While their acquisition may come at a premium, it is essential to envision them as not merely serving the cake alone but rather as an integral part of the whole wedding styling.

Shaun Walker Photography

In Summary

I trust that the ideas I have shared will ignite your imagination, bringing your wedding vision to life. As a skilled cake maker I will not only make the cake of your dreams, but work with your venue stylist to create an incredible wedding cake table setup.

Wishing you a truly extraordinary wedding day,

Tasha x

Horton Grange Country House is a bewilderment of discovery. From the perfectly-manicured gardens to the plethora of cosy, intimate spaces inside, this exclusive use wedding venue has benefitted from quality refurbishment and the honing of a world-class team to provide the ultimate stage for your special day.

Swoon over these shots and see what Horton has to offer for fashion-forward, memory-making weddings.

Aisle Style

From stunning urns brimming full of soft and rustic tones, to delicate and gentle blooms adorning the aisle and staircase, the styling was something to behold.

“We are known for our stunning woodland surroundings, so teaming up with Sprig and Thistle was a no brainer to bring the wild beauty of our outside, inside.” – Rebecca Graham, Head of Operations at Horton Grange Country House

The beautifully bright Garden Room was dressed to impress, with elegant mauve chair ties, fashion-forward florals and a beautiful neon backdrop tying into the classic contemporary brief perfectly. This is one place to walk the aisle in style, brides.

Wildly Whimsical

With large windows looking out onto the picture-perfect gardens which include a pond, terrace, firepit and festoon lit trees galore, it only made sense for the shoot to spill outside into Horton’s heavenly grounds.

“We continued the magic outside where we suspended CoCo Luminaire’s brand-new unseen neon in amongst the canopy of woodland really showcased what our grounds have to offer.” – Rebecca

See this shoot pretty in print as it features exclusively in the next print edition of Belle. We don’t think you’re ready for the inspo…

The Bridal Fashion

We chose a selection of big blousy and incredibly beautiful 2021 bridal gowns from Newcastle-based bridal boutique Si Bridal and crowns from brand new London-based accessories designer Caped and Crowned. The overall look gave inspiration to the shoot name: A Modern Fairytale. Constance, our model, completed her own bridal makeup and hair due to Covid19 regulations.

Venue Styling and Luxe Details

Wild and Wonderful styled the aisle for the ceremony in the chapel and also the round tables afterwards for the reception look. The end result? A dreamy palette of pale pinks, white and pink orchids and natural hues created a statement yet elegantly rustic look, with fronds of pampas grass relaxing the overall vibe.

Tables were elegantly set with gold candles and elevated centerpieces carrying on the same colour palette as the brief. We created angel wings from the florals and grasses for a completely unique and instagrammable aisle style and then rearranged to cascade around their focal point fireplace – a total of three stunning and inspirational looks.

White Orchid Print and Design completed the overall styling with elegant pale pink and nude stationery and seating plans, embossed with gold leaf.

As is routine with a venue like Doxford, the rustic romantically sound setting was the ideal backdrop for this editorial. Exposed brickwork, hushed hues and a hefty helping of countryside character brought the images to life and encapsulated the laid lack luxe brief.

The Fashion

Juxtapose this with standout bridal fashion and we’re talking a fierce rendition of all things we love about all singing, all dancing creativity. Gowns from Victoria Robson Bridal lit up the lens, with a beautifully seductive cap sleeves number from Pronovias gracing the grass and lovely lakeside in full flow. When would you ever see haute couture bridal fashion within a few steps of a herd of sheep? Doxford Barns, that’s where.

The Styling

Into the courtyard and the styling is something to behold. The Whole Sch-bang did what they do best – with pretty pastel shaded blooms hugging and wrapping around an overhead tables cape with style, while wicker baskets and ornate table settings completed this summer al fresco setup with aplomb. The cake? A glorious three-tiered centrepiece from north east baking extraordinaire Gabriella Grace Cakes bringing all the sweet, sweet style.

Luxe Details

We adore the little details in this shoot. Dreamy earrings, a statement pink lip and a bridal blouse we'd like on our own backs, immediately.

When it comes to handcrafting the most heavenly wedding stationery, Sarah Edmondson is cuts above the rest. She is the friendly face behind beautiful stationery brand White Orchid Print and Design, who have built an enviable reputation as one of the UK’s most picture-perfect pretty paper producers. From whimsical, romantic save the dates to wax-embellished menus and table plans, Sarah has utilised a wealth of design expertise to craft a couples’ dream wedding stationery.

Read on to discover her creativity and why she's the perfect stationer for your special day.

Tell us a little about your journey into wedding stationery…

My journey into the industry began when my Grandma got married a few years ago and asked if I would design her stationery. I obviously jumped at the chance and fell in love with the process that unfolded before me. I wanted to offer my services to other people so I could continue to work amongst beautiful paper and wonderful people, and since setting up in February 2019, I've never looked back.

Describe your style...

We pride ourselves on providing elegant, timeless designs.

We love focusing on the delicate, romantic details, working with only the best materials and processes to ensure a beautiful result whatever the style and theme.

What areas do you cover geographically?

Our little studio is based in Cockermouth in Cumbria, however, we have worked with people all over the UK and hope to continue to do so as our business grows. We offer face to face consultations in our studio but we also give the option of online appointments for clients who prefer to have a conversation but are a little too far away to pop in for a cup of tea and a chat.

What are your key products for 2021?

For the past few months we have been working tirelessly on our semi-bespoke collection which focuses on timeless, stripped back designs. Each suite has upgrade options whereby you can add illustrations or other features to make the suites unique to you and your fiancé. We have also spent a lot of time this year creating a range of vow books for those of you who would like to house your beautiful vows in an equally beautiful product.

Your favourite colour scheme?

Oh there are so many to choose from! On one hand we love a summery vibe with fresh whites and hints of blush pink and dusky blue but we also love a darker colour scheme. Although not as popular, we love mixing darker colours to create a beautiful palette. We often find by adding touches of colour through embellishments you can really bring a suite to life and match it to your overall theme.

Any new trends for 2021 you would like to share with us?

We have noticed that this year, couples are opting more for personalised stationery suites. Bespoke illustrations or added embellishments relating to personal details and reflecting their individuality as a couple. We are also loving exploring more environmentally-friendly options. Using handmade seed and petal paper as sustainable, alternative materials.

How far in advance should a couple order their stationery?

As a rough breakdown we recommend sending out save the dates 10-18 months before your wedding, and sending your invitations 5-8 months before your wedding date. We always say to allow up to 6 weeks for our design process as this needs to be taken into consideration. Creating a bespoke design can take longer so you need to bare this in mind.

There is a full blog post on this from Sarah coming soon!

How many elements of stationery should a couple have e.g. table settings, menus, save the dates?

We would always suggest starting with save the dates. Within a stationery suite we always suggest having the main invitation, an rsvp card, an information card and then a menu card if your guests are getting a choice for your wedding breakfast. When it comes to on the day stationery the world is your oyster! We recommend creating place cards and menus for your tables, you then need a table number or name. We often illustrate these for people who want something a little more personalised for their day.

You then have the option of having a table plan and the added extras of a welcome sign and an event timeline board. These are always lovely and give your guests an idea of what to expect throughout the day. The other pieces to consider are order of service booklets or cards, vow books and then eventually thank you cards. There are so many pieces to think about but once you have decided on a theme and stationery style, we can help you carry that throughout each of your items to ensure a cohesive look throughout your day.”

Horton Grange is an elegant and intimate Grade II-listed Country House, offering a beautiful contemporary yet traditional blank canvas for your big day.

Exclusively Yours

Nothing makes a marriage quite like having the whole venue to yourself. The house and it’s stunning settings – compromising of majestic woodland, a perfectly-manicured wedding lawn with a fully-licensed gazebo and an outdoor terrace with fire pit – will be exclusively yours. With a daytime capacity of 100 guests and an evening reception capacity of 150, Horton Grange becomes your private and personal space with no one else allowed – just you, your friends and your family, ensuring you feel truly special surrounded by only the people you love.

And, this feeling of exclusivity is only heightened by the dedicated team at your disposal. Their small but experienced team pride themselves on the quality of their service – from the food and hospitality to the all-important organisation of your day. Working closely with each couple, they ensure a perfect, personal bespoke experience.

Where to Wed?

Perhaps the most poignant question when planning your wedding – and the most difficult when the options are this good. Whether you opt to wed in their light-soaked garden room or in the grand enclaves of the house itself, there’s no end of insta-worthy aisle style at this venue. If the weather holds out, the garden gazebo is a memorable spot to tie the knot – perfect for summer soirées where you’ll get the most magical wedding images. Just check out Shelley and Craig’s big day images that we featured in SS20.

Divine Décor

Having enjoyed a recent refurbishment, Horton Grange now boasts fabulous interiors throughout that wouldn’t look out of place in the Tate. Their nine luxury bedrooms are the epitome of home-from-home heaven, filled with country luxe interiors. The Country House has five sumptuously furnished bedrooms, all named after Castles in the surrounding Northumberland countryside and decked out with luxurious furnishings. Think William Morris wallpaper and traditional features.

They have also lovingly restored the old stable block adjacent to the Country House which now houses four cosy bedrooms, meaning you can have the whole clan for a wedding weekender. After the frivolities, hunker down in the moody bar area to take your guests on a journey from day to night. Antler heads, crackling open fires, plush velvet sofas – and a cracking new cocktail menu coming very soon.

Food to Thrill

On that note, there are new developments at Horton Grange. Their creative culinary team have been working on new menus and drinks packages to make your fodder truly fabulous. Think three-course fine dining or brilliant buffet spreads.

BELLE’S TOP PICKS:

Exclusively Yours – have the whole venue to yourself
Dreamy Woodlands – take a post-wedding walk through the canopies of trees draped with festoon lighting
Game On – enjoy a spot of chess, croquet or rounders on the games lawn, perfect for summertime soirées

From self-made florists to vibrant new venues, every single supplier has a story, and we’re here to tell it.
Meet your potential wedding dream team…

Helen, Owner and Head Florist at Willow and Bear Floral Design

What I do: Willow and Bear Floral Design is run by me, Helen, a florist based in beautiful York in North Yorkshire.

I like to include as many locally sourced ingredients as possible to create designs that trigger emotions and make wonderful floral memories.

Using sustainable floristry methods enables me to feel more connected with the natural ingredients that I use, as well as doing a small part to run a more sustainable floristry business.

I don’t do ‘normal’ flowers. I create wonderful floral designs full of fun and care with total respect for wonderful ingredients.

My dream wedding would be: Any wedding... I can’t get enough of them!

I never make two designs the same, and look for elements that are both unusual and quirky, adding lots of layers of texture, scent and interest for the wow moments that every wedding needs.

I know I’ve done my job well when the first reaction is a gasp of delight.

One thing I couldn’t live without is: My family.

They support me and the W&B journey every step of the way – that includes my two gorgeous dogs, Mollie the cocker spaniel and Tilly little legs the miniature dachshund!

The first thing I’ll do out of lockdown is: Celebrate the achievements of the past year and keep close the memories of those no longer by our side.

I’m most inspired by: People who are kind, positive and confident in themselves.

I feel so privileged to be around such inspirational people and to pass on the positivity through my happy floral designs."

Charlotte, Owner at Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal

What I do is: I’m the soul and creator behind Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal in Matlock, acting as not only your stylist, but your bridal bestie. I want brides to feel totally at ease and enjoy getting glammed up.

My dream wedding would be: Classy fairytale winter wedding with everything sparkling - I’m like a magpie to anything that sparkles! Would be amazing to have slow falling snow too...

One thing I couldn’t live without is: Gin... haha! But of course my two babies Macy & Alfie - Miniature dashounds!

The first thing I’ll do out of lockdown is: Grab my girls, go for drinks and hug everyone!

I’m most inspired by: YOU Belle Bridal! I love everything you do and how much you have supported my business so far – thank you!

Thank you, Charlotte! Discover this brand new bridal boutique here!

Sophie Alder, Owner and Designer at Bride By Sophie

What I do is: Make bespoke bridal gowns and accessories on the island of Guernsey. Alongside my own bridal collection and hope to open up a boutique on the beautiful island one day too.

My dream wedding would be: Walking barefoot on a lovely Guernsey beach, late spring, quite an intimate ceremony with an abundance of romance and then a reception filled with all our friends and family, to dance and chat into the early hours.

One thing I couldn’t live without is: The love of my life. With a forehead kiss from him, I'm ready for anything life throws my way!

The first thing I’ll do out of lockdown is: Get all dressed up (lived in leggings most of lockdown!) and go to one of our favourite restaurants, order all the best food and drink wine on the terrace right by the sea (hope the weather is good).

I’m most inspired by: All the strong women in my life.

Check out Bride by Sophie's unique bespoke gowns here.

Amy, Owner at Bellamme Bridal

What I do is: At Bellamme Bridal we make people feel confident and special, bring them memories and give them the best shopping experience possible.

My dream wedding would be:  a romantic wedding on a beach in the Maldives, but as long as I could still have all my friends and family there.

One thing I couldn’t live without is: Love - I know that's cheesy but its ultimately what we are all looking for, from friends, families, partners.

The first thing I’ll do out of lockdown is: Enjoy a glass of fizz on a terrace somewhere with my husband and friends!

I’m most inspired by: Selfless people - we read so much negativity on a daily basis but I am always inspired by how many amazing, strong, kind people there are in this world and it needs to be spoken about more.

Ashleigh, Owner and head MUA at Diva Dust

What I do is: I run DivaDust Professional Makeup Artists and as well as my own work, I have a team of hand picked, fully qualified and insured makeup artists and hair stylists who work with me.

We are bridal makeup specialists and strive to provide a personally tailored service that will ensure you feel at your most beautiful on one of the most important days of your life.

My dream wedding would be: Any wedding morning where the bridal party are in great spirits and happy and excited....

The room is filled with joy and expectation and you can actually feel it in your bones. I love being a part of that.

One thing I couldn’t live without is: My phone! It’s an integral part of my life. Makeup wise I couldn’t live without a peach colour corrector for my dark circles!

The first thing I’ll do out of lockdown is: First things first - I’d go hug my family and friends. I haven’t hugged my Dad in over a year now.

Then I’d get myself all dressed up, makeup, hair, nails, outfit the lot and go OUT OUT.

I’m most inspired by: the kind of people who are brave enough to push boundaries and try new things, be innovative and willing to take a leap of faith.

Work-wise - I’m inspired by makeup artists with originality, talent, attention to detail and perfectionism ... and those who don’t rely on filters and Facetune to make their work look better.

Ashleigh offers award-winning hair and makeup designed to make you dazzle. Check them out here!

Hayley, Events Manager at The Oakwood at Ryther

What I do is: it’s my job to help you every step of the way on your wedding planning journey, and make sure your dream day is as perfect as you have always imagined.

My dream wedding would be: In a beautiful glasshouse conservatory, filled with greenery and a make-your-own pizza station.

One thing I couldn’t live without is: Diet Coke. What would be the point, honestly?

The first thing I’ll do out of lockdown is: Go to a restaurant! I am so excited for someone else to cook my tea, and not having to clean the kitchen 27 times a day. Heaven!

I’m most inspired by: My mum. And Pinterest of course!

The Oakwood at Ryther is luxury country wedding venue in North Yorkshire. Discover the delights of it here.

Graham, Head Baker at Sticky Sponge Cakes

What I do is: Sticky Sponge are based in Stocksfield, Northumberland. We create edible works of art from cake, chocolate and sugar to compliment and enhance your special day, its theme and venue.

My dream wedding would be: A winter wedding in the Scottish Highlands. All cosy inside with real fires and plenty of mulled wine to warm you up and with the beautiful scenery and snow outside just seems to make it all extra special for me.

One thing I couldn’t live without is: It would have to be my decorating tools. I have amassed a selection for specialist tools and even adapted a couple to help create and sculpt the different techniques in the cakes we make.

The first thing I’ll do out of lockdown is: have a weekend away somewhere after such a difficult and exhausting year. I think everyone needs to revive the batteries after all of this.

I’m most inspired by: Amaury Guichon who makes the most amazing and incredible sculptures from chocolate. They are unbelievable and incredibly clever.

Grahame is the creative brains behind beautiful, bespoke wedding cakes. Check out his unique creations here!

Each gracing our online Supplier Guest List, these are the green-minded warriors seeking to make 2021 the year of the sustainable wedding.

Careful Planning

Charlotte, Founder and CEO of wedding planning consultancy Our Story Begins, waited over nine years until her boyfriend Pete finally popped the question in Paris.

Image-1
Like most brides, Charlotte gleefully embarked on planning every detail, until she realised just how unsustainable her big day could be.

‘I had caterers pushing for to buy more food to make sure there was enough for everyone, makeup artists wanting to use brands I know are tested on animals and florists pushing the ‘most beautiful flowers’ which would have to be flown in because they would be out of season in the UK’ – Charlotte

This realisation is why Charlotte created her own planning business.

Our Story Begins provides brides with a sustainable and ethical wedding by offering a multitude of options, such as sourcing organic food, using seasonal flowers and opting for up-cycled décor (to name a few).

Sprinkle of Sustainability

Newlyweds are often showered with confetti after tying the knot, and although this tradition has thankfully upgraded from being sprinkled with rice (no, it’s not that nice), the volume of wasted paper isn’t too kind on the environment.

Thankfully, Your Confetti is on-hand to provide all the pretty paper, while cutting through all the waste with an environmentally friendly edge.

YourConfettiProducts-11
All of their bespoke designed confetti is 100 percent biodegradable, and they also provide the option of bamboo pots and personalised packaging, meaning you can get that cliché colourful confetti wedding snap without harming our precious planet.

Say Yes to the (Rented) Dress

We’ve all been seduced by the allure of next day delivery and discounts to make another unnecessary purchase, haven’t we?

It’s undeniable that shopping is more accessible than ever, but that brings about its own problems –an estimated £140 million worth of used clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year.

Elsie Jean Bridal, a boutique with a difference, is paving the way for wedding dress shopping to be sustainable.

EJB-1-Front
The boutique source and regularly update their collection of gowns for brides, bridesmaids and accessories that are all available to hire.

Choosing to rent your dress for the big day is environmental friendly AND affordable – for instance, a £1862 Blush by Hayley Paige gown is available to rent for £300. Now that’s a #BelleBargain.

EJB-6-Back
In such unprecedented times it’s easy to allow COVID-19 to be our only focal discussion, but climate change is still an on-going issue.

After all, there's no Planet B.
