THE NIGHT BEFORE - ARRIVAL FROM 4PM

Referred to as the ‘ice breaker’ night, this is quality family time before the big day - and a great chance to let Ellingham Hall provide spaces to relax, laugh, drink and mingle. There’s an abundance of choices on offer, why not gather your wedding team to enjoy a sizzling alfresco barbecue or sharing boards on the stunning terrace? Manicured lawns provide an incredible verdant vista for lawn games - or maybe you head underground to the entertainment den for music and dancing...

THE WEDDING MORNING

The bridal party can enjoy a relaxed and refreshing morning in one of the two lavish bridal suites at Ellingham Hall. Choose from Lady B’s with its French style rustic tones, private dressing room and free standing roll-top bath. A decadent soak and a good night’s sleep in the super king size bed is a prerequisite for the big day ahead.

The newly renovated Ellingham Suite is designed to elevate the experience further, with a rather decadent rooftop hot tub affording the most stunning views of the Northumbrian countyside. The Ellingham Suite is full of refined features including a super king-size oak bed, luxury double drench walk-in showers and a spacious lounge area. 

AISLE DO - THE CEREMONY

With no less than five unique spaces for the ceremony, it’s simply a case of deciding which wonderful space suits you based on your wedding numbers, licensed suites can cater for up to 140 guests. The ornate Ceremony Room seating 100 overlooks the front lawn. Modern touches blend beautifully with the ornate woodwork.

The Chapel is the largest space with original stone architecture, vaulted ceilings and a beautiful stone fireplace that holds court beautifully when utilised as a ceremony focal point. The neutral aesthetic of this suite  lends itself to any chosen theme and the viewing mezzanine is a photographers aerial dream.

For resplendent spring and summer soirees, the front lawn or woodland areas are superb choices for up to 130 guests - with the stunning natural beauty of Ellingham as a focal backdrop and a realm for exquisite photography alongside the soothing tones of waterfalls and babbling brooks (you may even spot the odd peacock)

The rooftop is framed by the walled garden and picturesque grounds. With unbeatable panoramic views, you can say your vows with the Northumberland coast on its horizon.Then step through to the mezzanine, to sign the register in front of the breath-taking and iconic Chapel Window.The rooftop space really has it all and can hold up to 60 guests for outdoor ceremonies.

DRINKS RECEPTION 

The terrace at Ellingham was built for mingling, drinking, eating and dancing. It’s the place to savour the ceremony (and canapés) before heading in to be indulged for the wedding breakfast. Live music is a must, be that on the terrace or indoors gathered around the grand piano in one of their immaculate reception rooms.

WEDDING BREAKFAST 

Time to indulge in a lavish three-course wedding breakfast in the 19th-century chapel.

CAKE AND COCKTAILS

Time for a pick-me-up? Gather the guests, cut the cake and indulge in some sweet treats for that all-important pre-dancing sugar fix! Then it’s time to boogie (or simply chill out in any of our boutique rooms!)

EVENING PARTY

The first dance can be enjoyed under a canopy of twinkling festoons, fuelled with a fabulous late night supper before heading out to the fire pit to toast marshmallows before ending the evening with a sparkler reception for 180 guests. For those wanting to carry on the party the After Dark party chamber is equipped to exceed expectations with pre-ordered drinks from midnight until 2am.

Eighteen luxurious suites await to rest the weary heads. Every need catered for and every room styled to perfection for a blissful nights sleep. For the newlyweds the bubbling hottub awaits exclusively for the duo to toast to forever under a canopy of stars.

DAY TO NIGHT - Talk us through how a barn celebration plays out…

Guests adore the cottages at Brinkburn which are self-catering ready for the first night - we have 12 ensuite bedrooms for guests to enjoy. Option two is to have our chefs prepare an informal graze and gorge sharing table with signature cocktails or barbecue under the arches or courtyard. The following wedding day, we transform the barn for the wedding celebrations in line with your style and vision and set the ceremony for your guests (from 2-30 people).

Following the ceremony it’s time to kick back, relax and take in the unique setting that is Brinkburn, as we offer the courtyard, tipi, woodland and gardens for your exclusive use to enjoy.

For the wedding breakfast we set the stunning banqueting barn tables and prepare your marriage menus. Feasting over, it’s time to enjoy the spaces and time with your family, be that dancing, chatting, drinking or star gazing!

The Sunday is a day to make your own. A day of exploration at Brinkburn (maybe a little fishing or walking?) or a perfect day to host a bespoke Sunday brunch or picnic.

Monday is checkout and a chance to gather and relive the memories of an amazing celebration.

Brinkburn is renowned for its fabulous food offering, tell us a little about that?

We offer a one and two- course casual menu, as well as sharing boards. We can offer a three-course menu if requested and are amenable to all requests. Our chosen chef 19.01 Catering serve a flow of canapes during your reception drinks and evening food to keep the energy alive.

How many nights can a barn wedding facilitate?

We fully align with the idea of being able to arrive at Brinkburn and switch off from the outside world, which is why we host our Barn weddings over two or three nights. Guests can either arrive on Tuesday, have your wedding ceremony on Wednesday and then depart on Thursday midday. Alternatively arrive Friday afternoon, leading on to your Saturday wedding, having Sunday to gather with friends and family before departing on Monday.

Woodhill was our family home, purchased in 1995. Halfway up the drive, you’re surrounded by thick woodland and you see the house peeking through, and that’s when our love story with this estate started.

Throughout the years, we’ve continually renovated and extended to create a boutique luxury wedding venue with a personal feel, while our team go above and beyond to ensure that a couples’ wedding is truly unique and personal to them.

We’ve heard there’s some exciting new renovations coming in 2024, talk us through them. How will they enhance the Woodhill experience?

We’re very excited to have started renovating and extending our Orangery to enable us to dine up to 110 wedding guests. Once that’s finished, with the fabulous Olive House and Teepees, we’ll have three unique spaces for couples to call their own during their wedding celebrations. We’re also revamping our Teepees to create an unforgettable party space.

On top of this, we’re creating three new bedrooms and additional toilets on the ground floor of the main house, each inspired by our love of ornithology, our Greek heritage and the beautiful local countryside.

That it’s an independent wedding venue offering a highly personalised service. We’re also entirely exclusive, and located in a very private part of Northumberland quite unlike anywhere else.

What’s the most picture-perfect location at Woodhill?

You’re spoilt for choice, we have fabulous panoramic views all around Woodhill – even from the bedrooms. The driveway, in front of the Orangery, the Olive House and Elephant Courtyard are my favourites.

What’s your favourite place at Woodhill?

This is a difficult question, I love the drive.

Another is the Olive House, which was created during lockdown. The simplicity, white lines, high ceilings, fabulous halo chandeliers and views over the fields from the elevated glass balcony all add to the magic.
